Post Office Closure

History of Govilon Post Office

Govilon Post Office - 1900The Govilon Post Office has provided an essential service to the village during 3 centuries. Our first recorded Post Master, Ebenezer Williams, ran the post office in the 1860s. Letters from all parts arrived in those days at 20 minutes past 7 in the morning, and dispatched at half past four in the afternoon.

A similar service, including many of the post office standard facilities have continued to this day.

Situated right in the centre of the village, the post office is well known to all residents and visitors alike. The decision by the Post Office will close a service that has run continually for over 150 years.

You can find out more detailed information about the post office, those who operated it, and the services it provided, including photographs, on the Govilon History website.
