Post Office Closure
The Plans
On Tuesday 15th January 2008, the Post Office announced its intention to close 25 post office branches across the Newport and Gwent Valleys. Govilon Post Office - which has been serving the village for over 150 years - is one of those earmarked for closure.
The plans recommend that users of Govilon Post Office should travel to Gilwern, Llanfoist, Abergavenny or even Blaenavon to make use of post office services.
The Post Office has begun a 6 week public consultation on the plans which ends on 25th February 2008. Full details of how submit your views to the Post Office can be found on our response page.
