How To Get Here
The village and its surrounds are all within easy reach of south and mid Wales, southern England and the English Midlands. Good road connections mean London and Birmingham are under 3 hours away. The main line station with regular connections to the Midlands and North West England and from the Great Western main line, is just 2 miles from the village.
Govilon provides an ideal base for exploring the local area which includes the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Blaenafon World Heritage Site.
From Birmingham and the North take the M50 from M5 Junction 8 to Ross-on-Wye. Then follow A40 to Monmouth, turning off dual carriageway 8 miles after Monmouth to follow A40 at Raglan for Abergavenny (easy to miss this turning, it is just after the service station).
From London and the East take the M4 to Wales. After the Severn Bridge (Toll) go to Junction 24 Newport and leave M4, taking the A449 north towards Monmouth. At second junction, 13 miles from M4, turn off A449 onto A40 at Raglan for Abergavenny.
After Raglan there are 9 miles of dual carriageway to a large double roundabout just outside Abergavenny. Take the second exit, (A465 Heads of the Valleys road) towards Merthyr Tydfil.
At first roundabout (3 miles) take the first exit to Govilon (B4246). The village centre is within half a mile.
The nearest railway station is Abergavenny with frequent services from Manchester and Birmingham via Hereford from the north and from Newport from the south, east and west. Newport has a half hourly service during the week from London’s Paddington Station, which also links to services from Cardiff and the west. National Express provide frequent services to Newport.
Govilon is served by Stage Coach buses (01633 266336). The X4 service runs hourly and connects the village with Abergavenny, Merthyr and Cardiff (bus times). Connections to other routes can be made at Abergavenny.
